For her recent article “Tempting treats await groups in Greater Seattle” for Meetings Focus, author Maria Lenhart looked to local experts to uncover some of the latest and greatest developments in the food scene for incentive and meeting groups visiting the area to take advantage of. Seattle and its environs, she noted, has made a name for itself as a ‘foodie’ destination, offering a wide array of fresh and locally-sourced options for all palates. Among the experts Ms. Lenhart polled was Uniquely Northwest’s own Natalee Haldeman, a native of the Seattle area who loves uncovering hidden culinary gems for our clients.
One creative dining experience Natalee touted is the fleet of Seattle food trucks. These miniature roving restaurants, she explained, “are very flexible and reflect a whole variety of cuisines, ethnic as well as very upscale gourmet.” The Seattle food truck scene represents everything from sushi to ice cream, seafood to international fare, pizza to crepes, and so much more – ready to roll to your event. The cuisine is top-notch, with four Seattle trucks making the 2013 “Best Food Trucks in America” list. And their flexibility means that food trucks can cater group events at many locations – a fun and unique catering alternative.
Natalee also highlighted the variety of fantastic food tours that are available to groups in the Seattle area. A memorable and mouth-watering tour through the legendary Pike Place Market, sampling fresh local fare along the way, is a perennial favorite. And the thriving craft beer scene in Seattle, along with the newer blossoming of distilleries in the area, have created one of the hottest new group tour options – brewery and distillery tours and tastings. These customizable tours include gourmet snacks and, of course, a designated driver so that participants can truly get into the ‘spirit’!
