Seafair is one of Seattle’s most anticipated festivals of the summer and a tradition since 1950! Seafair is summer long festival to celebrate the Pacific Northwest’s people with community events, parades, the Navy and Coast Guard (over 5,000 military men and women), amateur athletes, airplanes, and of course boat racing. As a Seattle local, my favorite festivity is by far the grand finale weekend (Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, 2015), which consists of hydroplane boat races and Blue Angels’ Air Show.
The Albert Lee Appliance Seafair Cup is the largest stage H1 Unlimited Hydroplane drivers will race on during their season – right in the middle of Seattle on Lake Washington! People gather around in their boats and dock in the middle of Lake Washington or along the shore to watch the famous race.
The main highlight and most popular event is the Boeing Seafair Air Show. The Navy’s Blue Angels put on one of the most impressive air shows in the country! The event is so popular, they close the floating bridge of one of the area’s main highways so people can get the best views of the air show over Lake Washington. This event is great for small to large groups, and an experience one will not forget.
Enhance your guests’ experience with a reception, dinner, and drinks at the Museum of Flight or Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). At the Museum of Flight guests can enjoy a private tour of The Boeing Museum and watch the Blue Angels take off and land from the tarmac in a private room! The MOHAI has photos, a jet boat, and lots of other artifacts pertaining to Seattle’s past Seafairs. Enjoy your event outside on the deck looking over Lake Union or in the main lobby with Boeing’s first plane hanging above. Both are great additions for your guests to experience a real essence of Seattle!
This is just one example of a great local experience for your guests in Seattle. There are many more great cultural events and festivals in Seattle that we can incorporate into your next incentive program in the area – just ask, we’d love to make a recommendation for you based on your time frame and interests!
