Exclusive Experiences During Vancouver’s Popular Honda Celebration of Light

By Britteny Jones, Uniquely Northwest Project Manager

I recently shared my favorite Seattle event with our readers – the fun-filled annual Seafair Festival. Now I’d like to tell you about one of my favorites in Vancouver!

The Honda Celebration of Light is British Columbia’s largest public event and the longest running offshore fireworks competition in the world! For this event, Vancouver hosts two to three countries annually for a spectacular fireworks competition in English Bay. This year is a big year for Canada, as they are celebrating their 25th anniversary!  In order to make it a show one will not forget, they have brought back two previous powerhouses, the Republic of China (Saturday, July 25, 2015) and Brazil (Wednesday, July 29, 2015), to compete against Canada (Saturday, August 1, 2015). The festival is nothing short of extraordinary and is great for all group sizes.

My favorite experience as a project manager is chartering a yacht to view the show from English Bay. With the fireworks directly overhead, you are guaranteed a spectacular view! Make the evening even more memorable by including a reception, seated dinner, and drinks.

For those who want to stay on land, my favorite place to view the fireworks is in the Corporate Cabanas at the YVR Observation Deck because they are perfectly situated for a fantastic view of the fireworks and they offer a great VIP experience for groups. The corporate cabanas offer a comfortable and luxurious lounge with a private entrance, their own washrooms, appetizer platters, and bar service. Each cabana can accommodate up to 24 guests.

The Celebration of Lights is one of my favorite festivals; however we are more than happy to base your program on the group’s interests and the time of year you wish to visit one of our amazing destinations. We hope to celebrate and experience a festival with you!
